This Privacy Policy explains how PassPlayer handles information when you use the PassPlayer application and the PassPlayer website.

1. About PassPlayer
PassPlayer is a standalone VR media player for Meta Quest. It allows you to play media stored on your headset, access media from local-network storage that you configure, and open compatible media sources or URLs that you choose.
PassPlayer is a media player. Its core local, network and compatible-URL playback functions do not require a PassPlayer account.
2. Information Processed on Your Device
To provide playback and application features, PassPlayer may process and store certain information locally on your headset.
Depending on the features you use, this may include:
- references to local media files you select;
- addresses and configuration for network sources such as SMB or WebDAV;
- credentials required to connect to network sources you configure;
- compatible media URLs you choose to open;
- playback history and playback position;
- favorites and hidden-video selections;
- language and application settings;
- generated video thumbnails; and
- temporary media cache files.
This information is used to provide the player functions you request.
Hand tracking and passthrough
PassPlayer uses hand-tracking information supplied by Meta Horizon OS locally on the headset to enable pointing, selection and other supported interactions. PassPlayer does not store or transmit hand pose or skeleton information.
PassPlayer uses the system-composited Meta passthrough view so you can see your surroundings while using the app. PassPlayer does not access, record, store or transmit raw camera images.
Meta independently processes information to provide its platform features, subject to Meta's own privacy policies. Media or network sources you choose remain independent external sources. These features do not mean PassPlayer operates an online media or subscription service.
3. Local Media
Local media files are processed on your headset for playback.
PassPlayer does not upload your local video files to a PassPlayer-operated media server in order to play them.
Where PassPlayer generates thumbnails for local media, thumbnail generation is performed locally on the device.
4. Local-Network Media
If you configure a local-network source such as SMB or WebDAV, your headset connects directly to the source you configured.
PassPlayer may locally store the connection information necessary to reconnect to that source.
Media from your local-network storage is not required to pass through a PassPlayer-operated media server.
Where supported, thumbnails for network media are generated locally on your headset using data read directly from the source you configured.
5. Compatible URLs and External Sources
PassPlayer may allow you to open compatible media URLs or connect compatible external media sources.
When you choose an external source, your headset communicates with the destination you selected.
The operator of an external website, server, or service may receive information normally associated with network communication, such as your IP address, requests, and any authentication information you provide to that service.
External sources are independently operated. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies and terms.
PassPlayer does not control the privacy practices of independently operated external services.
6. Optional Third-Party Accounts
PassPlayer does not require a PassPlayer account for its core playback functionality.
Some independently operated compatible external services may require their own accounts or authentication.
If you voluntarily connect such a service, the account relationship and service-side handling of account, authentication, or access information are provided by that external service and are subject to its own privacy policy and terms.
7. Information Collected by PassPlayer
PassPlayer is designed so that core local and local-network playback does not require you to provide personal account information to PassPlayer.
PassPlayer does not collect your local media library or the contents of your local or local-network videos for the purpose of providing core playback.
The current PassPlayer website does not use advertising trackers or behavioral profiling. We will update this Privacy Policy before adding such practices to the website.
8. Local Storage and Cache
PassPlayer stores certain information locally to provide convenient playback and improve performance.
This may include application settings, history, favorites, source configuration, thumbnails, and cached media data.
You can use the application's cache-clearing feature to remove generated thumbnails and temporary playback cache.
Clearing cache does not necessarily remove other locally stored settings, history, favorites, or network-source configuration.
You may remove additional local application data using the controls provided by your Meta Quest device, including clearing application data or uninstalling the application.
9. External Platform Services
PassPlayer runs on Meta Quest.
Meta may independently process device, Store, operating-system, backup, diagnostic, or other platform information according to Meta's own terms and privacy policies.
PassPlayer does not control Meta's independent platform-level data practices.
For example, platform backup features may back up application data according to your Meta device and account settings.
10. Website
The PassPlayer website at passplayer.space provides product information, support information, and legal documents.
The website does not use advertising trackers or behavioral profiling technologies.
The website hosting provider or network infrastructure may process ordinary technical information required to deliver web pages, such as IP addresses, request timestamps, browser/network information, and security logs.
Such technical processing may occur as part of normal website hosting and security operations. The site stores your language choice in your browser's local storage. The current site has no analytics pixels, advertising trackers, contact form, or site-set cookies.
11. Data Sharing
PassPlayer does not sell personal information.
PassPlayer does not sell your media library or viewing history to advertisers.
Information exchanged directly between you and an independently operated source is subject to that source's practices.
12. Data Retention and Deletion
Most PassPlayer application state described in this policy is stored locally on your device.
You can remove temporary thumbnails and playback cache through PassPlayer's Clear Cache function.
You can remove other locally stored application data by clearing PassPlayer's application data or uninstalling PassPlayer through the Meta Quest system.
If you have a privacy question regarding PassPlayer or believe information has been provided directly to PassPlayer, contact:
If your request concerns an account or data maintained by an independently operated external service, you should contact that service directly.
13. Children's Privacy
PassPlayer is a general-purpose media player and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through a PassPlayer account service.
Any age requirements applicable to Meta Quest and independently operated external services remain subject to those platforms' respective rules.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
